Coiltech Germany 2025 Highlights

From March 26 to 27, 2025, Coiltech Deutschland took place in Augsburg, Germany, drawing global attention to the evolving world of motors, generators, transformers, and winding technologies. This key event has grown into a vital platform for collaboration among equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, system integrators, and research institutions involved in the design and production of electromagnetic systems.

Pushing the Technological Boundaries: From Field Measurement to Flexible Automation

Fraunhofer IIS presented its groundbreaking HallinSight® vector magnetic field measurement system, which enables real-time capture of 3D magnetic field distributions. This technology is crucial for electric motor design, non-destructive testing, and advanced magnetic material research. Additionally, the institute showcased custom-built 3D Helmholtz coils, offering uniform field calibration capabilities for high-precision laboratory and industrial applications.

Automation and smart production continued to dominate the conversation. Beckhoff featured its XTS linear transport system and XPlanar magnetic levitation platform, designed to enhance the speed and flexibility of stator and rotor assembly lines. As multi-variant, small-batch production becomes more common, such adaptable automation solutions are gaining widespread traction.

Material Innovation: Advancing Performance with New Magnetic & Insulation Technologies

Advanced materials are central to improving power density and system efficiency. Nichia introduced its next-generation Samarium-Iron-Nitrogen (SmFeN) bonded magnets, which offer a remanence of 0.85T and a 50% boost in intrinsic coercivity. These enhancements make SmFeN a compelling alternative to traditional NdFeB in applications requiring thermal stability and miniaturization.

Bekaert launched its Ampact™ winding wire featuring a high-performance PEEK (polyetheretherketone) coating, known for its superior dielectric strength and thermal stability. These wires support higher slot fill factors and improve motor efficiency—making them ideal for EV drivetrains and high-voltage industrial systems.

Equipment Innovation and Green Manufacturing

On the equipment side, DETZO showcased its high-speed winding machines, featuring advanced tension control and multi-axis precision, designed specifically for the evolving e-mobility market. Meanwhile, Felsomat revealed its fully integrated production line for stator manufacturing, covering stamping, inserting, molding, and online testing, thus enabling end-to-end automation with digital traceability.
The industry consensus is clear: digitalization and sustainability are now core to innovation. The shift toward energy-efficient motors and high-frequency systems is prompting updates across the entire supply chain—from insulation materials to smart test systems.

Key Trends Reshaping the Industry

Coiltech Deutschland 2025 underscored three transformative trends:

High-frequency and miniaturized drive systems: Materials and thermal management technologies are being reimagined to meet compact, high-density energy demands.

Flexible manufacturing and reconfigurable systems: Equipment suppliers are under pressure to deliver customizable, scalable solutions.

Sustainability and circular design: Green materials, low-carbon processes, and recyclability are gaining strategic importance in procurement decisions.
